According to top Obama confidant David Axelrod, the President said, “You know, I think I am the closest thing to a Jew that has ever sat in this office”.
Axelrod explained that President Obama was responding to allegations that he is anti-Israel. The President even said, “For people to say that I am anti-Israel, or, even worse, anti-Semitic, it hurts.”
During Obama’s tenure, relations between the US and Israel have fallen to their lowest point in decades.
President Obama has questioned Israel’s dedication to peace and threatened to end the United States’ traditional support for Israel at the UN.
